I have 2 friends that are still with this practice - even though they now have a new MD, they are STILL not accepting new patients. Trying to find a new MD w/Promedica that is accepting new patients and not 50 miles away from South Toledo is impossible. If you look through the (rather expensive, I would assume) directory from the Blade, many of the so-called physicians are CNPs, not MDs or DOs. I have nothing against CNPs, but they are not MDs.
After reading other reviews I also wanted to share my experience. I had been a patient of this practice for a number of years, with 3 different physicians. I absolutely loved Dr. Pineda and was devastated when I was informed she would be leaving. It is so hard to find a Dr. that cares and that you trust with your life. I did not understand why the practice could not cover patients until they could find a new Dr. In my past experience, when a Dr. left the practice, other Drs. shared and picked up the patients.
This is not a "family practice". One member of your family can be established with Dr. Power, yet he will turn away your spouse and children when they are ill. Be forewarned...A doctor who doesn't care about your family.
Late on December 18, 2015, I received a letter (dated Dec. 8, 2015) from my physician, Joy Pineda, MD., stating that as of Dec. 31, 2015, she would no longer be a provider at Fallen Timbers Family Physicians. My daughter & her family, my brother & his family, as well as my niece & her family all received the same letter a couple days later. It also stated that the other members of the medical group were not able to take on any new patients. So basically, goodbye, you no longer have a doctor! Amazingly, the other doctors in the practice were always able to cover her patients when she was on a medical mission, days off or on vacation! The letter also gave us the number to call to get established with a new physician. That was a joke. The number provided us no one that was accepting & would accept our Anthem BCBS insurance. My brother & I both spent 2 full days calling around trying to find a Promedica physician that would accept us, our insurance, etc. The one or two that were, would only sign you up with their nurse practitioner. I don't want to see a doctor want-to-be! My family has been with that practice for 44 years, & my sister & her family, who go to a different physician in the group, still goes there. We aren't undesirables. We all have health insurance through employers, & our bills are always paid. The way we were treated is deplorable! We helped pay for their fancy new building! Now, they throw us out like we are trash!
I have been told that there was some sort of problem between Dr. Pineda & the medical group, so maybe this is because of that. Either way, her former patients shouldn't be penalized!
Same experience w/medical records - a ridiculous charge to transfer records to a non-Promedica group. Especially since we were DROPPED, it was not our choice. Promedica gave me a choice of 3 people that were accepting new patients - one in BG (I live in Toledo), a CNP and one other. I chose the CNP even though I would have preferred an MD.
I have worked in a medical office almost my whole life & have never heard of anything so ridiculous. At the very least, we should have been informed of her leaving & told that they were trying to replace her, but we would be looked after by the other physicians until then---it just might take a little longer to get in.
I'm not sure I would want to go back to this practice even if they start accepting new patients - would I be dropped again if my physician left?
Tara is always friendly and prompt and Dr. Bratt is extremely knowledgable and so easy to talk too. I recommend her office too anyone. You get in quickly. From the front desk too the back the staff are friendly and smile!!
As others mentioned, I was also a patient of Dr. Pineda's and was dropped as a patient, though I had become Dr. Pineda's patient as a result of other drs. leaving the practice and getting placed with her. It was not by my choice, but by Fallen Timbers Family Physician's choice to assign her as my doctor. I was with this physician group for close to 20 years and then was told Dr. Pineda had left and no new patients were being accepted. VERY DISAPPOINTING! Over the years, I have referred numerous individuals to this practice - no longer. Now, I would not recommend this physician group to anyone - as it is evident how long lasting patients are treated under such circumstances.
And if this wasn't bad enough, if you did somehow manage to find a doctor, if they weren't in the Promedica Health System, they want to charge you for your records. We didn't ask for this, so why are we being penalized? In my case, my file isn't huge so the expense would not be exceedingly large, but I still won't pay it. In my brother's case, he has had several major medical problems that a new physician needs to be aware of, but he was told it would cost him almost $2000.00 to get his records!
